Special Needs Support
AISA is committed to supporting the success and well-being of all students, including those with special needs. Our Special Needs Coordinator plays a key role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Support may be provided through both push-in and pull-out models, depending on each student’s needs and learning goals.
Teachers are encouraged to contact the Special Needs Coordinator if they observe any concerns related to a student’s learning, behavior, or social-emotional development. When additional support is needed, teachers should schedule a session with the coordinator, who will collaborate with both the teacher and the student to identify and implement effective strategies for success.
For students who require a more structured and personalized approach, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) may be developed. The IEP outlines specific learning objectives, accommodations, and instructional strategies tailored to the student’s individual needs. It is created collaboratively by the Special Needs Coordinator, teachers, and parents to ensure a shared understanding of the student’s learning profile and the support required to promote progress.
As with all student support processes, open and ongoing communication with parents is essential. Teachers should keep families informed about the student’s progress, any interventions in place, and updates regarding the level or type of support being provided.
