AISA Traits

Several years ago, AISA identified six key traits to guide our school-wide values and culture. These traits are visible throughout our campus, most notably on the Tree of Traits board at the office. When students or teachers demonstrate one of these values in action, they are recognized by adding a symbolic "leaf" to the tree.

The traits are consistently reinforced through:

  • A monthly schoolwide focus on one trait.

  • Classroom activities and discussions connected to the traits.

  • Prominent displays of the traits in all classrooms.

  • Teacher integration of the traits into daily learning.

Our Six Traits

  • Compassionate – Showing kindness, empathy, and care for others in words and actions.

  • Cooperative – Working together respectfully to achieve shared goals.

  • Ethical – Acting with honesty, fairness, and integrity in all situations.

  • Independent – Thinking critically, making responsible choices, and taking ownership of learning.

  • Respectful – Valuing people, ideas, and differences while treating others with dignity.

  • Responsible – Being accountable for one’s actions and contributing positively to the community.

Together, these traits shape the character of our students and strengthen the culture of the AISA community.
